PROSPERITY CAMPAIGN 2020

 

Here we are! Ready for a brand new adventure with the taste of the unknown that come along...

After various discussions and reflections about the available possibilities to continue the project of the Biblioteca L'Idea, we embark on an extraordinary fundraising campaign and invite on board all those who want, with pirate complicity, to collect a good loot, all over the seas to meet the urgent needs.

 

This call is mainly addressed to the anarchist movement comrades, within which and among its own various expressions, the Biblioteca is placed, and to all related and sympathizers individuals who want to support its prosperity. The intent is to keep alive the historical building, opened in 1985 in Pigneto by the Anarchist Group Controcultura, which since 2001 has kept its archive and, possibly, the "Spigolo", a small room next door dedicated to events. Various activities take place here: book presentations, screenings, concerts, meetings about demedicalization and d.i.y. self-care; A crossroads where people meet and mix energies since 2011, available for confrontation and for the realization of proposals by anti-authoritarian realities also distinct from the specific project of the Biblioteca L'Idea. A project that we keep to remind is still in the form of self-financing, independent of the institutions and without any form of income for those who join it. In short, a resistant and countertrending entity in a neighborhood use to be "working-class", today colonized by the radical chic lordship of consumption and exploitation: here rage the real estate business, selfie-proof street art, trendy places dressed in Pasolini's sauce are appropriately revisited. All under the sparkling banner of the redevelopment model, all over the world already developed and well known with the international definition of Gentrification, which imposes the new urban structure on the skin of the historical inhabitants deported elsewhere and on the rubble of social relations. So here are the old inhabited and lived spaces transformed into non-places, crossed by tourists in search of events, lovers of aesthetics and fiction, in whose margins would also be included realities like ours, if only it were available to bury the aspirations of revolt under the brush of the advancing picturesque!

 

Already between 2015 and 2017 we celebrated TWENTY YEARS Wayfarers, bringing inside and outside Italy the contents of the Biblioteca L'Idea and the varied itinerant book and documents distro, weaving new relationships and renewing existing ones. As on that time, we invite those who want to contribute to do it as they prefer, with autonomously managed initiatives (dinners, concerts, etc.) and by spreading the campaign with the means that are most suitable for them. The success of this campaign depends on the attention and dedication of each one in order to recover the expenses that have already been made and to face those that await us to ensure the continuity of the rental of the actual location.

 

You can choose to send the subscriptions: by bringing them directly to the library, (we are open on Tuesday and Friday from 17, in Via Braccio da Montone 71a in Rome), to have a chat and enjoy the vegan dinner together; or if you are very far away and opt for a remote donation, it will be soon possible directly on the website, for now write to biblidea[at]bastardi.net.
